Qualifications
A physician OR a registered nurse designated by the home health agency administrator — the role is not physician-exclusive.
Duties the rule assigns
- Supervise the agency's professional service providers
- Be available for consultation during regular office hours (or designate a qualified alternate)
- Participate in job descriptions and employment decisions for direct-service staff
- Ensure sufficient staffing to meet patient needs
- Hold authority over and responsibility for all professional/ancillary staff functions and evaluation
Notes
Applies to licensed home health agencies (7 AAC 12.500-.590; AS 47.32). Because an RN may fill this role instead of a physician, don't assume every mobile/home-based provider in Alaska needs a physician director.
