Qualifications

Duties the rule assigns
- Implementation of resident medical care policies
- Coordination of physician services and medical care in the facility
- Coordinating credentialing/privileging review of physicians, dentists, and podiatrists (Public Health Law § 2805-k), alongside the Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee
- Assuring each resident's responsible physician meets visit-schedule and care-planning obligations; taking corrective action, including referral to the Office of Professional Medical Conduct, when a physician doesn't meet care standards
Notes
Applies to licensed nursing homes (10 NYCRR Part 415). NY's separate Assisted Living Residence rule (10 NYCRR Part 1001) has no equivalent — its section list (1001.1-.16) has no medical-director provision, only an operator-designated administrator (1001.11).
