Ohio: medical director for a addiction medicine / mat clinic

Physician licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in Ohio, holding (or working toward, under a board-approved written plan within 24 months) certification in addiction medicine from the American Board of Addiction Medicine, a medical subspecialty board with an addiction subspecialty, the American Academy of Health Care Providers in the Addictive Disorders, or the American Osteopathic Academy's addiction-medicine subspecialty; must hold a current DEA registration and a DEA waiver if prescribing partial opioid agonists.

• Oversee all medication treatment decisions
• Administer and supervise all medical services
• Oversee medication storage safety
• Oversee clinical documentation requirements
• Develop policy for take-home doses
• Ensure the program complies with all applicable federal, state, and local law

Applies to opioid treatment programs (OTPs)/medication-assisted-treatment clinics regulated by OhioMHAS. Onsite presence is quantified: one hour onsite per week per 40 patients (minimum 6 hours/week), and onsite at least two days a week (a program physician or CNP may substitute one of those days). Distinct from — and additional to — the federal OTP medical-director requirement (42 CFR 8.12(c)) that already applies nationwide.
